MOSFET TECHNOLOGY

"Perfect is the enemy of good" said Voltaire, famous French philosopher. But is is so? If our great, great, (...), great grandparents thought that way we would be probably still living in caves and hunt boars or bears with some primitive tools. What makes us people is that we are constantly looking for improvement. We're not afraid of asking difficult questions and finding even more difficult answers. We reached the Month Everest, landed on the Moon and even split an atom. Taking into consideration that facts it would be disappointing to let AIRSOFT unchanged for so many years.

What in fact is MOSFET? If we ask an electrician he'll answer it's a metal–oxide–semiconductor field-effect transistor. Doesn't sound very friendly, don't you think? That's why it is better to ask an AIRSOFT freak. He'll briefly explain that the MOSFET is an electronic device mounted in the AEG gun between a battery and a motor. It is directly connected to the trigger and its main function is to give YOU many new functions. In AIRSOFT slang we call the MOSFET every single electronic circuit that is to be mounted in the replica. It is a little bit misleading though: when a player buys the MOSFET he doesn't only receive single transistor (as in ordinary mosfet) but fully equipped and professionally designed device for AIRSOFT guns. Simply speaking: classic mosfet is just a small element of the MOSFET designed for AIRSOFT.

MERF 3.2 - example of the MOSFET offering Plug&Play mode.

There are at least a few types of MOSFETs on the market. Some of them are very basic, other ones are specialized in meeting the requirements of the most demanding users. In general they are profitable for all kind of AIRSOFT guns. The main issue is that they are often not easy to install but even that obstacle can be easily avoided: the most innovative manufacturers produce MOSFETs that can be used in the Plug&Play mode - that means that you don't have to worry about difficult process of the installation: you can just plug the device to the replica and benefit from its new functions. We are able to distinguish some basic functions that are available on the MOSFETs accessible on the market.

MOSFET
Paradoxically, the most basic function of the MOSFET is... mosfet. Simply speaking, it makes the energy from the battery go directly to the motor of the gun. It prevents electronic arcing between trigger contacts and protects them from overheating and destruction. Because of that your gun will fire faster, you'll have bigger control over the trigger and fragile parts in the motor of the replica will be protected from being damaged.

ACTIVE BRAKE
This feature gives you a feel of the realism. Many players suffer from the fact that their replicas are not accurate enough for them and waste precious ammunition. Because of this function you will gain full control over your gun: once you drop your finger off the trigger it will immediately stop firing. It will not only save your ammo but also enable you to become more precise. ACTIVE BRAKE is also very important for players who tune up their replicas and as a consequence lose SEMI mode.

BURST

Burst mode enables you to make shot series. Because of that you'll be able to save ammunition and adjust the replica's way of working to your current needs. Not only your accuracy will benefit from this function: also the feeling of reality will rocket

Of course these are not the only one functions that you may have in your MOSFET. If you are interested what more can that invention offer to you feel free to check it out in here.
